This is definitely not your run-of-the-mill makeup

Would you like to be an animal for a day?

Would you want to look like a sloth today? Or a panda, perhaps? How about a boxer dog?

Mimi Choi, a makeup artist and illusionist, can do all that and more. One look at her Instagram feed and you’ll immediately discover her kind of talent.

She transforms herself and her subject into an animal with the use of makeup.

Check out some of her masterpieces below.

1. Say hello to panda eyes!

This is #makeup • I’m not fat, I’m just fluffy. 🐼🐼🐼 PANDA FACE using @maccosmetics @maccosmeticscanada Chromacake and @kryolanofficial Aquacolor. My actual eyes were closed here and the panda eyes were painted underneath my real eyes. Took me 3 hours! _______________________________________ Some people ask me why I “waste” so much of my time doing these “pointless” creatives – it’s not wasting time if this is my career and it’s definitely not useless if it makes me happy. 😆 I’m a professional makeup artist, and I do makeup on people and teach illusions as a job! I paint during my free time as it’s also my hobby and challenging myself consistently is the only way I can improve as an artist. I’m very grateful that I get to do this as career because most of the time it doesn’t even feel like I’m working. My goal in life is to be able to look back when I’m old and be proud that I was once a crazy bitch. 🙏🏼

2. For lazy days…

3. A man’s – and woman’s – best friend!

4. Because a two-eyed cheetah is not enough

4-EYED SPACE CHEETAH COMING THROUGH… 📣🐆💥 My demo at Make-Up Artist Magazine booth at #IMATSLA yesterday – Makeup, hair and wardrobe all by yours truly! 🌪 This past IMATS weekend was both a fun and emotional experience. Words cannot describe the gratitude I feel for those who came to attend my class and watch my demo! I loved sharing my story and listening to yours. I hope that my journey encourages you to step out of your comfort zone and start doing things for yourself. Screw trends and societal norms and create art that resonates with YOU. Be your own trend. I’ve always believed that it’s better to create original art that might only be 80% excellent than to imitate someone else’s and do a perfect job. Siân Richards @londonbrushco said to me: “The only opinions that should matter are those of your own… and maybe your husband because he’s the only person who will be honest with you.” ❤️ Thanks @michaelkeyreal, @imatsofficial and @makeupartistmag for such a memorable weekend. I can’t wait for the next one! #IMATS #IMATSLA2018 #IMATS2018 • Model: @nnnnicte • Recap and product deets coming next!

5. Throwback to the day when she turned her fiancé into a husky because… why not?

6.  Two birds in one photo? I see a moHAWK and a PARROT!

7.  Snow white in tiger form

Close-up of the #whitetiger makeup I did on @csandny • Her eyes were actually closed here and the tiger eyes were painted right under her eyebrows. I didn't have time to take a proper photo because I had to do 5 illusions in a day for this project so I had to speed things up. A lot of you ask how I make the black so black. To prevent the black from looking shiny and to maximize depth, I normally use matte black paints. I prefer using water-based paints over creams. My favourite paints include @mehronmakeup Face & Body Makeup, @makeupforeverofficial Aqua XL Color Paints, @kryolanofficial Aquacolors and @Maccosmetics Chromacakes and Acrylics. Also, when I take a photo of the makeup, I make sure there's no light shining onto the sides of the face because any reflection will take away from the illusion of a gap. Natural lighting is always best and I never use flash to take this kind of photos. I usually just use my iPhone 7 Plus and never depend on Photoshop, other than contrasting the colors.

What do you think of her art? Are you willing to sit in her makeup chair and be her canvas?
