Mysterious Blob Kills a Million Seabirds in North America!

Tens of thousands of dead birds are washing up on the shores of Alaska, Washington, Oregon, and California.

Scientists say the carnage is the largest die-off in recorded history – and the killer is something named after a B-movie monster.

The culprit was a heatwave nicknamed “The Blob.” The total death toll is close to a million!

The gigantic scorcher occurred under the ocean, where it threw the entire ecosystem into chaos!

The seabirds, called common murres, starved to death as fish grew scarce amid intense competition from other predators, according to a study by the University of Washington.

“Think of it as a run on the grocery stores at the same time that the delivery trucks to the stores stopped coming so often,” says Julia Parrish, a co-author of the study.

Meanwhile, another blob of hot water has formed off the coast of Washington up into the Gulf of Alaska.

That blob, too, is growing!
